Controls Engineer

About the role

Design and oversee controls systems for behind-the-meter (BTM) generation solutions, ensuring integration into monitoring and command center operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop controls standards, Basis of Design (BOD), and oversee PLC/RTU architecture, network design, telemetry, alarms, and historian requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors on control panels, engine controllers, and ancillary equipment to ensure interface consistency and fault handling.
• Define integration needs with monitoring systems, including dashboards, alarms, escalation procedures, and incident responsibilities.
• Partner with Product and Security teams to align cybersecurity measures with standards.
• Support commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and site acceptance testing of controls systems.
• Create and maintain SOPs, MOPs, and change-control processes for controls modifications.
• Establish KPIs for controls performance, analyze incidents, and implement improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years in industrial controls/OT engineering, SCADA integration, or mission-critical power systems.
• Proven experience with controls design, BOD, system integration, troubleshooting, and SOPs development.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA), OT security practices, and 24/7 operational support.
