About the Role

As a member of the global controls team, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS) within AWS data centers. Working alongside highly motivated experts and industry innovators, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and implementing improvements to critical mechanical and electrical systems. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless operation of complex infrastructure components such as HVAC systems, power distribution units, generators, and cooling systems, all of which are interconnected through open or proprietary communication protocols. This position requires active security clearance, and candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph after onboarding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of controls experience OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience without a degree
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in general contractor and vendor management, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, and quality control
  • At least 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, manufacturing plants, or power plants
  • Strong knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders in the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems
  • Provide ongoing technical support during the lifecycle of the data center, ensuring optimal system performance
  • Review quarterly maintenance results and coordinate corrective actions for BMS and EPMS systems
  • Develop project scope, schedule, budget, and level of effort estimates for BMS and EPMS initiatives requested by stakeholders
  • Manage scope, schedule, finances, and execution of control system improvement projects in AWS data centers
  • Support procurement activities including RFQ/RFP processes, vendor proposal reviews, and purchase order issuance
  • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate technical support for in-service data centers
  • Attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and report project status to management and stakeholders
  • Assist in commissioning activities and review controls sequences of operation, providing feedback to design teams
  • Develop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces for control systems
  • Visit operational and construction sites to troubleshoot issues, supervise vendor work, and ensure compliance with design and safety standards
  • Manage multiple stakeholder requirements and navigate challenging situations effectively
  • Oversee financial aspects of BMS and EPMS service contracts
