Controls Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply prescriptive methodology to project tasks
  • Collaborate with engineering teams
  • Execute project tasks
  • Prepare or update reports and documentation
  • Attends weekly team meetings; reviews scheduled tasks/timelines
  • Lead automation projects for material handling clients
  • Develop and implement PLC code for the material handling equipment
  • Review AutoCAD layouts and schematics to program the projects
  • Test PLC prototypes internally and on site for new/changes in the project
  • Assess programming and commissioning methods to ensure development of standard coding are met with Intelligrated standards
  • Executes all test plans on-site, both internal and customer acceptance/BUAT/UAT/FAT
  • Makes progress reports regularly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of Controls Engineering Experience in a similar role
  • Leadership experience (Project Lead, Project Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead, or similar)
  • Ability and willingness to travel above 85% of the time
  • E-Commerce Material Handling Systems
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programming And Electrical Design Of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff
  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) programming and setup
  • Network Protocols
  • Warehouse control system software interface and protocols
  • Human-machine Interface system design
  • Scanner and Machine vision system interface
  • Project planning and budgeting
  • Effective writing and verbal skills
  • Tools and software: Logix 5000, Studio 5000, ZoneFlex Configurator, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View, B&R Automation Studio, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SST Profibus Configuration tool, Ignition, SOPAS, Datalogic DataMan.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, by consistently taking the initiative to get things done
  • Capability to update or modify working methods in your role by following defined procedures
  • Interest and skill to collaborate with engineering functional teams
  • Consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity
  • Dexterity to evaluate and recommend technical solutions based on standard or accepted technical practices
  • 2-5 years of experience in Controls Engineering
