About the role
As the Facilities Controls and Automation Engineer, you will oversee key elements of the building management system (BMS), including the Allen Bradley system front end, field controllers, and individual equipment controllers. This role offers the opportunity to interact with diverse teams and significantly impact Qorvo's success by enhancing system reliability, increasing automation capabilities, and driving efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation, repairs, and maintenance of all BMS (Building Management System) control features, including both hardware and software.
- Design and implement controls systems for facilities projects.
- Revise and update piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Revise PLC input and output drawings and generate controls cable schedules.
- Troubleshoot issues related to the building management system.
- Improve reliability and efficiency of Facilities systems such as Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, HVAC, Process Cooling Water, PVAC, Exhaust, CDA, etc., through programming improvements and PID loop tuning.
- Identify and support cost savings and energy savings projects.
- Evaluate, monitor, and improve the program effectiveness of the Siemens building control system.
- Maintain control systems on a variety of PLC systems, including Allen Bradley, GE, and Siemens PLCs.
- Maintain all monitoring systems on site, including the fire panel program.
- Maintain multiple company websites, including ERT training tracking and EHS compliance systems.
- Maintain a database and input program for daily rounds to monitor plant status.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- 3+ years of controls engineering experience.
- Experience with PLC programming and SCADA or BAS system operations.
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to work in live manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of hazardous gas/chemical safety systems and monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens PLCs and Allen Bradley BMS System.
- Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Previous exposure to industrial design, maintenance/operation of facility systems, and basic project management experience.
- Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication sites.
- Experience editing drawings using AutoCAD or similar.
- Ability to work with people that have varied levels of technical background.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.
