Design and develop tools, fixtures, and processes to support existing products and new product development initiatives, including CNC programming, tooling/fixturing development, robotic/gantry material handling cells, electrical panel design, PLC programming, plant layouts, material flow, and equipment manuals.
Responsibilities
- Champion the engineering design process (concept, design, drawing creation, build, document), installation, MPAP, and long-term technical support of manufacturing processes while meeting quality, capability, cost, and time targets.
- Develop and implement capital or expense projects, including:
- Researching new and established manufacturing technologies.
- Planning capital and time requirements.
- Writing CER (Capital Expenditure Request) proposals.
- Procuring and installing approved equipment while meeting cost and time targets.
- Participate in product and process design reviews to improve product quality and reduce production costs.
- Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and maintenance teams to solve chronic or complex problems.
- Develop and implement control systems projects for tooling and equipment to meet project objectives within cost and time targets.
- Support standardization initiatives by specifying and purchasing similar controls equipment and components, and participating in standards development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical area (electrical engineering preferred).
- 8+ years of engineering experience.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and GD&T.
- Experience in procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment.
Qualifications
- CNC programming experience (strong plus).
- Heat treat experience (strong plus).
- Professional experience in manufacturing engineering in an automated machining environment (desirable).
- Formal training in robotic systems and other automated systems (Fanuc preferred, desirable).
- 3D modeling experience (PTC Creo III preferred, desirable).
- Hands-on experience in tooling & fixturing methods (desirable).
- Production experience (preferred).
