VOLTAIX Controls Engineer (USA) Location: Fremont, CA Onsite Flexibility: Onsite Contract Details Position Type: ContractContract Duration: 12 monthsPay Rate: $68.00–$79.77 / Hour (USD)Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. --- Job Summary The Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for applying engineering principles independently to all aspects of design, programming, installation, startup, and troubleshooting of automated industrial control systems. The Engineer will have deep and broad competency in process automation of chemical plants using DCS, PLC, SCADA, etc. systems. Candidate should have working knowledge of Layers of Protection Analysis and designing and implementing systems with appropriate SILs. The candidate preferably has experience in manufacture or use of ultrahigh purity materials supplied to the semiconductor industry. --- Key Responsibilities Drives a culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" with their actions and their words on a daily basisCapable of developing, implementing and supporting plant control system hardware, software and field instrumentation in an efficient and safe mannerEffective at troubleshooting control system hardware and software and implementing corrective actions independentlyActively participates in Design Reviews and PHAs as a team member or leaderPLC, DCS and SCADA control system configuration and programmingWorking with highly hazardous chemicals at a manufacturing facilityResponsible for establishing engineering design basis, and assisting with design documentation (e.g. PFDs, PIDs, equipment and instrument specification sheet, process package, MOC, interlock matrix, functional design specification) for both new and existing facilities while following department standardsCapable of assisting with loop tests, and interlock tests performed for new processes and for yearly ISO testing for calibration and interlock checksSuccessfully completes all assigned trainings and tasksUnderstanding of electrical distribution and power loading in industrial control systems --- Required Skills Knowledge and experience of instrument engineeringKnowledge of applicable codes and standards for process control hardware and software (e.g. UL listing, NEC, etc.) as applied to hazardous materials handling and manufactureExperience with Siemens automation systems hardware and TIA Portal softwareExperience with Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix hardware and softwareExperience with Emerson Proficy HMIsAbility to develop and interpret electrical schematicsExperience with developing and deploying ethernet based industrial networks --- Preferred Skills Experience with AVEVA Intouch HMI and HistorianExperience with AVEVA System PlatformExperience in a rapid-growth environmentTrained in standard procedures for safe gas and chemical handlingChemical plant operation experience strongly preferredStrong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-taskTeam player with leadership abilitiesSelf-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and continuously changing prioritiesProblem solving and decision making skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills --- Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent --- Required Experience 10 years of relevant experience, including programming PLC/DCS for chemical plant design and operation as well as process data collection and distribution for wider corporate use --- Benefits Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement Fund --- About the Client This global industrial gases and services company is a world leader in its sector, present in more than 60 countries and serving industries spanning manufacturing, energy, healthcare, electronics, and food.
