Controls Engineer
Contract to Hire position based in Winn, MI, supporting heavy-equipment manufacturing.
About the role
You will develop software for updates, changes, and new product development on Parker-IQAN–based equipment. The role includes supporting the technical-support team that interfaces with customers and troubleshoots production-floor issues. Strategically, you will establish a more regimented software process, standardize documentation for existing service parts, and occasionally upgrade Parker products to newer versions.
Responsibilities
- Design software modules and control logic that ensure machines operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Integrate electrical and hydraulic systems, delivering real-time feedback to operators.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot machine-control software for new products and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Write and maintain code for machine functionality, diagnostics, and operator interfaces; develop control algorithms; and design integrated control systems that coordinate software, sensors, electrical components, and hydraulics.
- Simulate and debug software prior to implementation, validate performance at both bench and machine levels, and diagnose/resolve software and control-system issues.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience developing controls software for physical systems (machines, equipment, or vehicles).
- Familiarity with controls platforms such as CODESYS, IQAN, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar.
- Experience with programming languages/tools such as C/C++, MATLAB, or Simulink.
- Ability to develop and debug control logic (sensor inputs, actuator outputs, sequencing, PID, etc.).
- Experience troubleshooting modules, sensors, valves, I/O, and wiring.
Work Environment
Fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly-heavy manufacturing setting. Travel to customer locations or dealer sites may be required, totaling less than 20 % of the time (a few trips per year, primarily within the United States).
Pay
$38.46 – $49.52 per hour.
