About the role
Röhm is seeking a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in Wallingford, CT. The ideal candidate will lead continuous improvement efforts in process automation and controls to optimize productivity.
Responsibilities
- Provides engineering support to Maintenance and Production to safely and cost effectively coordinate ongoing maintenance of current process automation systems, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts that maximize automation and control through the use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and the site Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Responsible for maintaining and improving process instrumentation.
- Installing upgrades or improvements in adherence to safety and environmental standards along with the sites management of change process.
- Develop and maintain process related documentation, P&ID’s, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Procedures and others as needed.
- Supervise and prepare estimates for maintenance work and capital projects.
- Troubleshoot process issues across reactors, blend tanks, extruders, pumps, and conveying systems as it pertains to controls and instrumentation.
- Train operations personnel on process safety, control systems, and instrumentation operation.
- Seek out and initiate process changes to improve the safety, environmental security, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, product quality, efficiency, or cost of the department.
- Develop a subject matter expert status for process controls and instrumentation.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or related field.
- 5 to 10 years experience in process controls and automation.
- Experience working with plant DCS (Distributed Control System) or PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) required.
- Proficiency with Siemens DCS or Emerson/GE PLC’s a plus.
