About the Role

A growing and mission-driven organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, KPI development, and business analytics. This opportunity is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys getting deep into the numbers, creating meaningful management reporting, developing key performance metrics, and providing leadership with actionable insights that drive decision-making. While the role oversees traditional accounting functions, the organization's leadership team places a significant emphasis on reporting, analytics, and KPI visibility. We're looking for someone who can transform data into information and information into strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including general ledger, month-end close, AP, AR, payroll, and internal controls.
  • Build and maintain robust management reporting packages for executive leadership.
  • Develop, enhance, and monitor KPI dashboards and business performance metrics.
  • Create financial and operational reports that support strategic decision-making.
  • Produce monthly financial statements by department, division, and profit center.
  • Partner with leadership to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks within the business.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Build advanced financial models and reporting tools using Excel and other technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and reporting efficiencies.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial and operational data.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller or senior finance leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success creating reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and management analytics.
  • Experience personally developing reports and financial models rather than solely reviewing work prepared by others.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement preparation, profit center reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting automation.
  • Ability to translate large amounts of financial and operational data into meaningful business insights.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation.
  • Experience with reporting and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • ERP implementation or system optimization experience.
  • Background in multi-department, multi-location, or growth-oriented organizations.

Benefits

This is an opportunity to join an organization where leadership genuinely relies on financial data and KPI reporting to drive business decisions. The successful candidate will have a seat at the table, significant visibility with executives, and the ability to shape how financial and operational performance is measured moving forward.
