About the role

New Orleans Restoration Properties (NORP) is hiring a Full-time Controller - Director of Finance Operations to protect financial standing and help the business grow. This role is a vital member of the New Orleans, LA team and serves on the executive leadership team, overseeing crucial functions to maintain financial health and pave the way for future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance
  • Identifying ways to refine and improve operational processes
  • Developing and executing financial planning and analysis strategies
  • Overseeing cash flow and banking relationships
  • Strengthening internal controls and protecting assets
  • Mentoring a motivated, high-performing finance and accounting team
  • Assisting with various projects by analyzing multifamily developments financed with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), preparing financial projections, and evaluating potential investments
  • Creating detailed pre-investment reviews, serving as part of the quality control review committee, and reviewing LIHTC deals
  • Overseeing compliance and business development opportunities related to LIHTC and Historic Tax Credits (HTC)

Requirements

  • 8+ years of finance experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a senior financial role
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • High proficiency in Excel, financial software, and modeling tools
  • Strategic problem-solving skills, an innovative mindset, and the ability to execute solutions
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Clear and effective communication and presentation skills

Preferred qualifications

  • MBA or CPA
  • Real estate development or construction experience
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, specifically LIHTC and HTC
