Controller / CFO In Training
About the role
The Controller / CFO In Training position is newly created and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role involves hands-on involvement in various areas such as payroll, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, budgeting, financial reporting, annual audits, fixed assets, information systems, 401k administration, Medicare/Caid cost reporting, sales tax, IRS forms 990 and 5500, among others.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on involvement in payroll, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, budgeting, financial reporting, annual audits, fixed assets, information systems, 401k administration, Medicare/Caid cost reporting, sales tax, IRS forms 990 and 5500, etc.
- Coordination of external audits
- Interpretation and analysis of financial statements
- Knowledgeable with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience with budgeting process, forecasting, and planning
- Payroll processing, tax reporting, wage and hour laws, and related software applications
- 401k plan experience (administration, audits, ERISA rules, etc.)
- Healthcare-related experience with reimbursement, billing, cost reports, etc. (preferred)
- Accounts payable processing and 1099 reporting experience
- Advanced proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Leadership and supervision of staff and projects
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Meeting deadlines and making timely decisions
- Problem-solving ability and attention to details
- Communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
- Handling sensitive and confidential information
- Working effectively with all levels of management, staff, and employees
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA license preferred
- Minimum 5 years work-related experience
- Previous public accounting experience is highly valued
Education & Experience
Preferred: 401k plan experience (administration, audits, ERISA rules, etc.), healthcare-related experience with reimbursement, billing, cost reports, etc., and accounts payable processing and 1099 reporting experience. Advanced proficiency with MS Word and Excel, and leadership and supervision experience are also beneficial.
