Controller
Position Summary
The Controller of Finance will oversee all accounting operations within the company, which includes maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and managing a team of finance professionals. This role requires a strong background in public accounting and experience in managing staff. The Controller will work closely with senior management to support financial decision-making and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare detailed budget reports and forecasts, providing insights for strategic planning.
- Lead the audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and provide professional development opportunities.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Monitor and manage financial risks, including cash flow, credit, and operational risks.
- Develop and maintain company accounting policies and procedures.
Strategic Planning
- Partner with the CFO and senior management to develop financial strategies that support the company’s growth and profitability goals.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations for business decision-making.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is required.
Experience
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong background in public accounting.
- Proven experience in managing teams and leading financial operations in a mid-sized company.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
