Responsibilities
- Oversight of LDoE's day-to-day accounting operations
- Support of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, as well as the annual audit
- Work with the EDF to maintain systems ensuring high-quality services for children and families in compliance with department, tribal, federal, and state standards
- Preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Maintenance and reconciliation of financial data in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards
- Reviewing accounting transactions and documents for accuracy; approval and coordination of reports prepared by accounting staff
- Preparation and negotiation of LDoE's annual Indirect Cost Proposal (or management of outsourced preparation)
- Aid in preparing LDoE's annual budget and processing budget revisions
- Support of departments with accounting and fiscal document preparation
- Design and development of financial reports, trial balances, and statements using financial reporting and spreadsheet software
- Overseeing accounting software administration and daily operational duties
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, internal controls, financial reporting, and audit processes
- Experience with government fund accounting, tribal grants/contracts management, and/or school accounting preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills preferred
- Experience with School ERP (Infinite Visions) software preferred
