About the role

Elevate your career and join a leading manufacturer and distributor of bath furniture and fixtures. Based in the Greater San Fernando Valley area, our client is seeking a Controller to help build the accounting infrastructure for the company's next phase of expansion. Leadership is investing in the finance organization to support the company's aggressive growth strategy and continued operational scaling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process, maintaining a close-plus-5 reporting cadence while driving improvements in accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, journal entries, and accruals, ensuring all key accounts are fully supported, audit-ready, and accurately reflected in the financial statements each month.
  • Ensure inventory accounting, COGS, revenue recognition, and retailer chargebacks are accurately reflected within the general ledger.
  • Partner with the VP of Finance to strengthen and document accounting policies, internal controls, and operating procedures that support scalability and operational excellence.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team while driving accountability, process improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Maintain ownership of the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact with external auditors and accounting partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
  • Strong experience within consumer products, wholesale distribution, omnichannel retail, eCommerce, or other inventory-intensive environments.
  • Deep expertise in inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, and COGS analysis.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading annual audits and serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Proficiency with retailer chargebacks, deductions, and revenue recognition.
  • Advanced ERP and MS Excel capabilities.
  • CPA designation, active or inactive, is strongly preferred.
  • PE-backed company experience and board reporting exposure are a plus.
  • Willingness to work on-site in the Greater San Fernando Valley area on a hybrid schedule (typically 4 days per week).

  • Strong GAAP, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and audit experience.
  • Hands-on accounting leadership experience.
  • Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, omnichannel retail, eCommerce, or other inventory-intensive environments.
  • Leadership and direction experience with accounting teams.
  • Experience with annual audits and external auditor interactions.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
  • CPA designation, active or inactive.

Benefits

  • A base salary of $160K-$170K, plus a performance-based bonus opportunity of up to 25%.
