The Opportunity
We are seeking a Controller who is passionate about building and shaping the future of SHP's finance operations. This is a player-coach role where you will lead the accounting function while maintaining a close connection to the details to make informed decisions on complex SaaS revenue recognition, drive a major ERP migration, and help define the future of SHP's finance operations.
What You Will Do
Own the Close: Lead the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring SHP meets its reporting obligations on time and with precision. Streamline and improve the close process, including evaluating and implementing necessary tools and workflows to support SHP's growth.
Be the Revenue Recognition Authority: Serve as the go-to authority on SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606, evaluating performance obligations, standalone selling price allocations, contract modifications, and variable consideration. Help scale revenue recognition processes to ensure consistent GAAP reporting as the business grows.
Lead the ERP Migration: Design the chart of accounts, map data, conduct user acceptance testing, and execute the go-live for SHP's ERP system. Work cross-functionally with IT, operations, and finance to ensure the new system supports SHP's future needs.
Be a Business Partner: Translate financial data into actionable insights for various stakeholders, including the product team, sales, and IT. Build trusted relationships across departments and serve as a collaborative business partner.
Coach and Develop the Team: Mentor the team through complex accounting judgments, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and set the standard for what great looks like.
Improve Everything You Touch: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, strengthen internal controls, and build scalable processes to support SHP's growth.
What You Bring
Deep experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 in a SaaS or subscription environment.
Track record of leading or significantly contributing to an ERP implementation or migration.
Proven ability to operate as a player-coach: lead by doing, not just delegating.
Comfort operating under tight monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines.
Natural critical thinker who challenges assumptions and drives toward better outcomes.
Strong U.S. GAAP foundation with experience reporting into a parent company or corporate reporting structure.
Ability to build trusted relationships across departments and serve as a collaborative business partner.
Bonus Points
CPA designation.
Big 4 public accounting background.
Hands-on experience with NetSuite and its Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) module.
Familiarity with Ramp (spend management), HubSpot (CRM), and close management platforms such as FloQast, Numeric, or similar.

Pay
$165,000. - $190,000. annual, depending upon experience. This is a remote or hybrid position within the United States. Employees living within 75 miles of the Santa Barbara office are required to work in-person in the office every Wednesday. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
