About the role

The Controller will own financial operations as RouteGenie scales. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can create the financial structure, close the books, build the right controls, and translate financial data into actionable insights for the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Month-end and year-end close – own the full process, top to bottom
  • General ledger oversight and integrity
  • Financial reporting for internal leadership and any external stakeholders
  • Budget vs. actuals analysis with meaningful commentary
  • Internal controls design and compliance
  • Audit preparation and external auditor coordination
  • Tax coordination with outside advisors
  • AR/AP team leadership (team of 2 + external bookkeeping firm)
  • Deferred revenue and revenue recognition
  • Investor relations with external capital providers for finance and tax related items

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role. CPA preferred, or strong desire to achieve soon.
  • Experience at a growth-stage SaaS or technology company, required
  • Solid understanding of deferred revenue and revenue recognition (ASC 606), required
  • Proficient in modern accounting systems and experiencing leading an accounting system migration, a plus. (ex. QBO, Ramp, Salesforce, Stripe, Sage, NetSuite)
  • Proven experience managing close processes and building controls infrastructure
  • Comfortable managing a small team and external partners
  • Strong judgment – knows when to escalate and when to just get it done
  • Excel fluency; comfort with financial modeling and variance analysis
  • Experience in healthcare technology or transportation/logistics software is a plus.

Pay

$130,000 - $150,000 annually, based on experience

Schedule

This is a hybrid position (4 days in office, 1 day remote) in Nashville.
