Controller

About the Role

The Controller oversees the day-to-day financial operations of Northern Nevada HOPES and its subsidiaries NNH QALICB and NNH Support, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of financial records and reports. This supervisory role leads a team of accountants and requires a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and collaboration across all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Payroll accounting
• Financial reporting and budgeting
• Ancillary financial duties
• People leadership, including guiding and developing staff
• Overseeing general ledger, month-end close, audit coordination, and financial reporting in a complex, multi-fund environment
• Strengthening systems, controls, and processes to improve accuracy, transparency, and efficiency
• Partnering with executive leadership and stakeholders to translate financial data into actionable insights

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and grant management/fund accounting experience
• Demonstrated experience leading organizational accounting functions
• Deep understanding of nonprofit and healthcare finance
• Experience with fund accounting, restricted funding, grants management, and compliance requirements for federally qualified health centers or similar organizations
• Strong financial leadership and collaboration skills
• Track record of improving internal controls, financial systems, and workflows
• People-centered management approach with experience mentoring and developing accounting staff
• Computer literacy

Prior supervision experience and current CPA license or Master's in Accounting/Business preferred.
