What You Will Do
- Clean up and restructure the current state of the books, including clearing the close backlog, reconciling accounts, restoring GL integrity, and driving clearing accounts to zero.
- Finish the migration to QuickBooks Online (Advanced) and SOS Inventory, rebuilding the chart of accounts and processes to align with how the business actually runs.
- Restructure the finance function for scalability, assigning tasks appropriately (you, offshore execution, outside firm) while maintaining strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and approved workflows.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly closes by the 5th–8th business day, with clean, reconciled financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and credit-card reconciliations.
- Implement strong internal controls and documentation of SOPs and checklists for audit readiness and on-time handoffs to outside tax advisors.
- Develop a rolling 13-week cash forecast and weekly cash report with disciplined AP payment timing, as well as weekly AR and AP aging reports with zero past-due items.
- Create a rolling 12-month forecast and annual budget for leadership team use, ensuring 100% sales-tax compliance.
- Provide weekly budget vs. actual vs. prior-year vs. forecast reporting with KPI commentary, focusing on channel and SKU-level margin analysis to drive pricing, mix, and inventory decisions.
- Develop standardized monthly and quarterly reporting on margin, trends, and performance drivers in plain business language.
- Drive automation and reduce manual work post-migration, implementing bank feeds, A2X/e-commerce summaries, and bill automation.
- Lead and develop offshore accounting execution, manage the outside accounting and tax firm, and build the right team and development paths as the function scales.
