Job Summary
The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) seeks a professional accounting and management level individual to lead the Accounting Department. Key responsibilities include overseeing the Agency Audit, planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance of books and records, preparing financial statements, and coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Agency Audit
- Plan, direct, and monitor the Accounting Department
- Prepare and maintain financial statements for various funding sources and regulatory agencies
- Design and implement cash management systems
- Analyze financial records to forecast future financial positions and budget requirements
- Develop and review new accounting sub-systems
- Coordinate with auditors and regulatory bodies
- Supervise and train staff in the Accounting Department
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience as an Accountant
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, governmental accounting, and modern office practices
- Knowledge of computerized spreadsheets, databases, and accounting systems
- Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret financial data
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of the Accounting Department
Pay
$107,515 - $178,850 per year, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
