Controller

Responsibilities

• Oversight of all day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, job cost, etc.
• Maintenance of accurate financial records and production of monthly financials
• Management of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support for project managers with cost tracking and forecasting
• Conducting monthly and year-end closings with efficiency
• Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls
• Interfacing with external CPAs, banks, bonding agents, and insurance providers
• Supervision and development of a team of accounting professionals, promoting continuous growth and development
• Recommendation and implementation of process improvements and system upgrades

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of progressively responsible accounting experience in construction
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (a Certified Public Accountant [CPA] is preferred)
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and percentage of completion methods
• Proficiency in construction accounting software such as Viewpoint-Vista, HCSS, or similar
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
