Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial documents and closing processes
- Ensure all accounting transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
- Prepare and review complete financial statements including: Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements
- Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and submitted within established manufacturer and management timelines
- Oversee floor plan reconciliations, general ledger accuracy, and end-of-month closing procedures
- Interpret and analyze financial statements to identify trends and opportunities
- Keep the General Manager informed regarding financial trends, cash flow, and operational performance
- Develop and maintain an effective cash management system
- Work closely with department managers to help them understand financial reports and create action plans to improve performance
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue and reduce expenses in order to meet or exceed budget goals
- Ensure adherence to best accounting practices, dealership policies, and internal control procedures
- Oversee the dealership accounting office, systems, and personnel
- Recruit, develop, train, and retain high-performing office staff
- Ensure all payroll and Human Resources functions are operating effectively and accurately
- Prepare and submit required financial statements, reports, and manufacturer reporting
- Safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal accounting controls
- Respond promptly to requests for financial information and operational support
- Aid ownership and management with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
Qualifications
- Previous Automotive Dealership Controller experience preferred
- Strong understanding of dealership financial operations and accounting practices
- Experience with dealership management systems preferred
- Strong knowledge of: General Ledger, Floor Planning, Bank Reconciliations, Financial Statement Preparation, Payroll & HR Processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High level of integrity and professionalism
