About the role

At Parker Aerospace Exotic Metals Forming Division, the Control Systems Programmer develops software supporting new machine control systems, re-programs existing machine control systems, provides input to detailed control system specifications, generates control system documentation, and supports the company’s development of new automation applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Automation Engineer and the end customer to develop detailed control system functional specifications.
  • Architect control system software.
  • Support the creation of project time and effort estimates.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug systems in coordination with Control Systems Technicians and Automation Engineers.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Apply knowledge of basic hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems as related to control systems and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • 5–7 years’ experience programming controls for safety-critical physical systems (e.g., industrial equipment, medical devices, or vehicle electronics).
  • 5–7 years’ experience programming in modern object-oriented languages.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to operate a computer.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Close vision abilities required.
  • Regular attendance and ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Overnight long-distance travel may be required.

This position is subject to U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements. Drug testing is a condition of employment.
