About the role

Serves as the on-site DeltaV Control Systems Engineer for a customer. Develops and designs Emerson DeltaV control systems, including implementing control logic, configuring process graphics, and supporting customer acceptance reviews to ensure provided solutions meet customer process and functional requirements. Collaborates with customers to produce control system documentation such as Functional Requirements Specifications and System Configuration/Design Specifications. Implements continuous and batch designs into the DeltaV control system, conducts internal and customer-witnessed control system factory/site acceptance testing, performs process simulation, delivers operator and maintenance training, installs and starts up process control equipment, performs system upgrades and preventative maintenance activities, explores new opportunities with customers for product upgrades/expansion and services, and collaborates with sales teams as a product or service technical expert for existing and prospective customers. Delivers quality solutions and services to various industries and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customer to produce control system documentation including Functional Requirements Specifications and System Configuration/Design Specifications
  • Implement continuous and batch designs into the DeltaV control system
  • Conduct internal and customer-witnessed control system factory/site acceptance testing
  • Perform process simulation
  • Deliver operator and maintenance training
  • Perform process control equipment installation and startup
  • Perform system upgrades and preventative maintenance activities
  • Explore new opportunities with customers to assess needs for product upgrades/expansion and services
  • Collaborate with sales teams in discussions as a product or service technical expert for existing and prospective customers
  • Deliver quality solutions and services to our many customers and industries
  • Share Emergency Call responsibilities with the Projects and Services team
  • Travel periodically to other customer facilities within the multi-state territory served by Applied Control
  • Proactively learn to apply new automation products on a regular basis
  • Adhere to company and customer safety practices
  • Proficient in interpreting P&ID, electrical schematics, network architectures, and process control descriptions
  • Proficient in documentation and functional specifications for DeltaV process control system projects in the Life Sciences Industry
  • Troubleshoot problems in a logical and timely fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface with internal and external customers

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry working experience
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS systems required
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch / SIS / MES required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Server operating systems
  • Experience with documentation and functional specifications for DeltaV process control system projects in the Life Sciences Industry
  • Troubleshoot problems in a logical and timely fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface with internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of automation and distributed control systems including instrumentation, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Proficiency in interpreting P&ID, electrical schematics, network architectures, and process control descriptions

Qualifications

  • Base Wage Range: $32.00 – 60.00 hourly. For candidates with 5-10 years of DeltaV and field experience the starting wage could expand to $75.00 an hour.
  • Other Variable Compensation: Eligible for additional incentive compensation including an annual profit share award and overtime pay.
