About the Role

Reporting directly to the Flaking Supervisor, the Chemical/Flaking Operator 2 performs all required duties and operates all necessary equipment to ensure the continuous and effective operation of the Flaking department. The role focuses on meeting production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Transport supersacks into warehouse storage after processing.
  • Operate equipment to produce scented beads or other products, including railcar, truck, or tank raw material feed.
  • Perform washouts and changeovers of facilities and equipment.
  • Follow all procedures, including proper documentation, for manufactured products.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) standards.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance: cleaning, inspecting, lubricating, and tightening to maintain equipment base condition.
  • Perform basic computer tasks, including transferring inventory through electronic scanning and required paperwork.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement activities through established methods.
  • Use Human Machine Interface (HMI) to conduct equipment operation and process analyses.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment and comply with all customer, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and organized.
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, Security Requirements covered under Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Follow all RC14001 guiding principles, policies, procedures, and other requirements.
  • Maintain hazardous waste in accordance with all Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, legal, and environmentally protective operation.
  • Listen to customers, suppliers, and employees, and respond quickly to customer concerns.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and food safety requirements.
  • Report any food safety, security, and/or quality issues to management or the HACCP team.
  • Provide flexible and innovative strategies to support new business opportunities.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and maintain a positive "Can Do" attitude.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (required).
  • Preferred: Position-specific vocational education, training, or certification.
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing operation (required).
  • Maintain internal forklift certification (required).

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in ambient temperatures (high and low).
  • Able to work a 12-hour shift with a rotating schedule.
  • Able to change elevation using ramps, stairs, and ladders.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., greater than one hour).
  • Able to independently lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis during shift.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
