This position requires strong electrical assembly skills, the ability to read and work from schematics and panel layouts with limited supervision, and a practical understanding of quality, safety, and workmanship standards. The ideal candidate can produce clean, accurate, and reliable panel builds while helping identify issues before they affect schedule, quality, or field installation.
Responsibilities
- Build and wire industrial control panels from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material.
- Mount and wire components including terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, disconnects, transformers, power supplies, PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, soft starters, pilot devices, and instrumentation.
- Cut, strip, label, crimp, terminate, and route conductors neatly and accurately according to shop standards, customer specifications, and UL requirements.
- Perform point-to-point checks, continuity checks, basic functional testing, and troubleshooting using a multimeter and related test equipment.
- Review drawings and materials for accuracy, identify missing or conflicting information, and communicate issues before they delay production.
- Maintain clean wire routing, proper bend radius, secure terminations, accurate labeling, and overall panel cleanliness.
- Complete required documentation including checklists, redlines, material usage notes, test results, and revision markups.
- Follow electrical safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, OSHA requirements, and NFPA 70E awareness practices.
- Provide limited field support when assigned, including panel installation assistance, equipment terminations, and start-up support within training and qualification limits.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical, electrical, or trade training is preferred.
- Prior hands-on experience building, wiring, or testing industrial control panels is required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material with limited supervision.
- Strong working knowledge of panel components, wire labeling, crimping, terminations, and organized wire routing.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and basic electrical test equipment safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, accurate, and reliable work.
- Ability to document work clearly, follow revision control practices, and communicate drawing or material concerns promptly.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work assigned shift, including occasional overtime as needed.
- Familiarity with UL panel shop standards, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, and NFPA 70E awareness is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 25 to 50 pounds; ability to stand, stoop and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
