Contractual Copyeditor - Medicine and Life Sciences

Job Responsibilities

• Edit academic and scientific manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, clarity, conciseness, logical flow, and overall readability, while preserving the author’s intended meaning.
• Ensure that the language is appropriate for a global academic audience and meets the conventions of formal scientific writing.
• Make changes to ensure that the manuscript conforms to the journal’s style requirements.
• Apply specific journal guidelines related to structure, formatting, referencing style, abbreviations, units of measure, and other stylistic conventions.
• Audit document metadata such as references using software tools.

Qualifications and Prerequisites

• A degree (minimum bachelor’s) in Medicine and Life Sciences.
• Experience in editing in any form.
• Proficiency in using MS Word, specifically, Track Changes and styling options.
• Familiarity with the AMA style guide (preferred).
