Contracts Specialist III

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Friday)

Duration: 5+ Months Contract / Possibility to conversion

About the role

We’re hiring an experienced Contracts Specialist III to support the drafting, negotiation, and management of complex energy trading agreements. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong contract negotiation experience in the energy commodities industry and expertise in industry-standard trading agreements.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate master trading and ancillary agreements for energy commodity transactions.
• Manage contract templates, provisions, and documentation in accordance with company policies.
• Collaborate with Credit, Legal, Treasury, and Operations teams to resolve contractual issues.
• Track contract workflows, maintain agreement databases, and generate reports.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
• Analyze contract language to identify and mitigate legal, credit, and operational risks.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of contract negotiation experience in the energy trading industry.
• Experience negotiating industry-standard trading agreements such as ISDA, NGL NAESB, EEI, Gas NAESB, and IECA.
• Strong understanding of legal and compliance issues related to energy commodities trading.
• Knowledge of Dodd-Frank regulatory requirements.
• Experience with financially and/or physically settled commodity transactions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with environmental credit transactions.
• Working knowledge of energy, commodities, or derivatives markets.
• Experience managing contract workflow systems and agreement databases.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
