Contracts and Grants Project Manager (RSCH ADM 1 CX)
Job Summary
Under supervision of the Contracts and Finance Supervisor, the Contracts and Grants Project Manager will assist in pre- and post-award management of grant accounts and other general account management. Serve as account manager on faculty departmental accounts and fellowship accounts. Work with principal investigators and project managers to develop and understand new proposals and assist with post-award management. Identify, research, and resolve problems. Reconcile ledgers, monitor accounts, and prepare for fiscal closing of accounts at year-end and close-out activities for federal, state, local, and private sponsors. Collect, analyze, and summarize financial information for special reports. Verify accuracy of effort reporting, ledger reconciliation, and miscellaneous projects as assigned. Work as part of the BME Contracts and Grants team to support principal investigators with their grant accounts and faculty departmental accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience with MS Office suite programs for spreadsheet preparation, complex data analysis, and report creation.
- Experience to research, create, elicit, analyze, and summarize information from a variety of sources to prepare reports and present information in user-friendly formats.
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and techniques for managing budgets, financial accounts, and preparing fiscal reports.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with administration, faculty, staff, and the public, using tact, diplomacy, and good judgment during all interactions.
- Advanced skills using MS Excel.
- Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload to independently manage and monitor multiple projects simultaneously and to meet multiple and variable priorities and deadlines.
Department Overview
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a large, complex academic department in the College of Engineering and provides instruction and research in multiple areas of biomedical engineering. The BME department is responsible for administering $29M- $32M in annual expenditures (FY25 ~$17M in sponsored projects). BME has approximately 500+ undergraduate students and a graduate group of 120 students and a newly approved self-supporting professional degree (Master of Engineering in Medical Device Development). BME has 70 academic and staff employees including postdoctoral scholars, project scientists, and other scholars.
