Contractor Supervisor

Reporting to the Senior Contractor Supervisor, the Contractor Supervisor coordinates contractor engagements, manages vendor relationships, and provides quality assurance oversight for contracted work in support of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative’s (NHEC) mission to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate contractor activities and manage vendor relationships to support system improvements and district projects, ensuring alignment with NHEC objectives and project requirements.
• Monitor performance of contracted services for maintenance, construction, and restoration activities to ensure compliance with NHEC standards and contract terms.
• Provide quality assurance and compliance oversight across the entire distribution system by performing project and site inspections to verify adherence to contractual specifications and safety standards.
• Develop Requests for Proposals and award jobs related to contractor bid work.
• Request and secure funding for contractor work following NHEC policy by completing purchase order requisition and sole source justification forms.
• Ensure completed work meets NHEC construction standards, specifications, and contractual requirements through inspection and documentation review.
• Maintain, correct, and reconcile all required documents, materials, and invoices to ensure accuracy of NHEC records and payment processing.
• Support NHEC’s cultural goals by exhibiting self-leadership, developing effective working relationships, demonstrating results orientation, and seeking feedback.
• Assist in the development of the department’s annual operating budget and monitor budget for reasonable variances.
• Assist in leading the construction and maintenance of districts to ensure members are provided with a reliable and cost-effective distribution system.
• Coordinate with utilities and state/local governmental agencies.
• Assist staff in responding to member service needs and ensure complaints and inquiries are handled courteously and expeditiously.
• Coordinate restoration activities with contractors and internal teams during major outages by assessing conditions, prioritizing work, and facilitating resource deployment.
• Support NHEC’s strategic goals by assisting in achieving balanced scorecard objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ten years’ experience in electric utility construction, maintenance, and operations on multiphase systems, both overhead and underground.
• Valid Class B heavy commercial driver’s license; must meet carrier standard for insurability.
• Minimum of two years in a progressive leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or coaching role overseeing teams or projects.
• Ability and experience to become qualified in switching and tagging.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of construction, maintenance, and operations of overhead and underground distribution lines, including metering, transformers, voltage regulators, oil and electronic reclosers, and capacitors.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code, OSHA Regulations, assembly and material specifications, and construction work practices; willingness to attend related courses.
• Ability to read schematic drawings and instruction manuals.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office suite, and ability to learn NHEC-specific iVue systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of progressive responsibility, including leadership in a utility.
• Schooling in electricity, line worker training, technical school, or mathematics.
• Class A CDL and Commercial Boat License.
• Skilled in organizing, planning, directing, and supervising; in-depth knowledge of utility regulations as required by state and federal agencies.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and iVue suite systems.

Working Conditions

• Work involves both office conditions and outdoor fieldwork, sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
• Occasional overtime may be required, especially during major system outages.
• Hybrid work schedule may be available, dependent on management approval and workload; on-site office work in Plymouth, NH is required.
• Required to work long hours during major outages.
• Limited travel required for professional meetings, training sessions, or assisting other utilities during major storms; possible overnight travel.

Pay

The target salary range for this position is $106,275.20 – $120,857.10, with anticipated pay for new hires between the entry and midpoint of the range. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including work experience, education, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications.
