Contracted Academic Tutor

Overview

The Chumash Learning Center offers a vibrant, welcoming place for Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians community members to gather for Homework Club and to encourage lifelong learning with Academic Tutor support. Students can drop-in for assistance in various subjects, both in-person and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Tutor in a one-on-one or group setting while assisting with homework assignments, projects, and test preparation.
• Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the Education Department, students, and parents.
• Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
• Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Establish and maintain a trusting and positive relationship with students and parents.
• Stay updated on curriculum changes.
• Follow confidentiality procedures.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or teaching credential issued.
• Previous related experience working with children in a supervised setting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
• Must be able to multi-task.

Pay

• Minimum Pay Rate: $50.00 per hour
• Maximum Pay Rate: $60.00 per hour
