Contract Surety Bonds Underwriting Manager - New England

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, bank agreements, credit reports, and other underwriting information to assess risk.
• Oversee branch profitability, retention, growth, and underwriting results.
• Evaluate and approve surety credit decisions, including terms and conditions.
• Provide guidance and review underwriting decisions made by team members.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with agents, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Lead, coach, and develop underwriting staff to achieve individual and team goals.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Make timely underwriting decisions with a high degree of integrity and accountability.
• Travel throughout the New England territory to build and maintain relationships.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (Finance, Accounting, or related discipline preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years in surety underwriting or a related field. Prior leadership, mentoring, or management experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong financial analysis and credit assessment capabilities; experience reviewing contractor financials and evaluating contract surety risks; excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
• Certifications: Professional designations such as AFSB, CPA, and/or RPLU are preferred.
