Contract Specialist (Direct Hire)

About the role

The Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices rely on a dedicated team to provide essential administrative support services. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient operations through various functions including purchasing, space management, security, internal controls, mail, records, reproduction services, forms management, and communication services.

Responsibilities

• Performing pre-award and post-award work on a variety of contract actions.
• Developing and documenting acquisition strategies for procuring supplies and services.
• Determining appropriate contract type, competition requirements, contract vehicles, and applicable FAR authorities.
• Preparing all solicitation documents necessary to support contract actions.
• Maintaining oversight of contractual milestones and processing timely actions.
• Staying updated on Department of Justice and Government contracting procedures, business practices, the FAR, and other relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Conducting cost and price analyses, preparing contracts, and executing award documents.
• Reviewing technical and cost evaluation reports for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

• At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service, or a combination of education and experience as detailed in the Minimum Qualifications section.
• A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
• At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management from an accredited college or university.
• A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education.
• Specialized experience, education, or a combination of both as defined in the Minimum Qualifications section.
• A Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C).

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

• Must be a United States Citizen or National.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• Must be able to attain and retain at least a level 1 (one) Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) as a federal contracting professional.
• Must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
