Position Summary
The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing all contractual aspects of sub-contractor construction contracts and procurement of materials/equipment. This includes sub-contractor compliance with Company & established Project policies, legal requirements, and construction standards. This position will be responsible for contract development, administration, and contract close out including claims and dispute resolution.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for various construction disciplines, e.g. Piling, civil foundations, structural steel erection, piping, electrical, etc.
- Draft, review, and formalize contract annexes for specific requirements of the construction projects including contractual tools to ensure on time and on budget execution, e.g. Liquidated damages, incentives, equipment performance guarantees, etc.
- Lead the bidding process of construction and equipment procurement including bid leveling, negotiations, and preparing documentation for client approval processes.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Construction Management, legal, and others on contract & procurement related issues.
- Manage change orders, amendments, and close out.
- Routine monitoring of contractor performance ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget, etc.
- Manage claims, disputes, and conflict resolution in collaboration with Project Management, Legal, Finance, etc.
- Provide routine reporting on contract status, risk, compliance, etc.
- Various other administrative and clerical duties as assigned related to contract management.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in contract management; preferably in capital Projects or construction.
- Construction purchasing experience required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to work weekends and long hours in a high-pressure working environment.
- Must be accessible at any time for emergencies.
- Requires frequent bending, stooping and lifting.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
