About the role

The Contract Management Specialist administers commercial operations for the power generation fleet to obtain the best overall value for internal customers. This role is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and managing moderate to high-value and complexity contracts for materials, equipment, and critical services, focusing on fleetwide contracting supporting multiple generating facilities. This is an entry- to mid-level position that works independently with minimal supervision and may provide guidance to other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Execute sourcing strategies in support of power generation safety, operations, engineering, construction, and maintenance activities within the fleet.
  • Through bidding, selecting, negotiating, and contracting with approved suppliers, measure and provide feedback on safety performance, risk mitigation, costs, and quality control.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal business stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Legal Department to optimize risk mitigation and conduct negotiations with sophisticated (national and international) counterparties.
  • Draft, negotiate, and edit a variety of service, material, and equipment contracts; non-disclosure agreements (NDAs); and information technology protection agreements.
  • Exhibit ownership of the entire procurement process for assigned initiatives from cradle to grave.
  • Provide input on a strategic procurement plan that aligns with the company business plan and plant outage plan.
  • Locate and provide opportunities to diverse suppliers, and develop and certify alternate sources of supply where competition is not prevalent.
  • Advise and assist internal customers and peers on ORACLE processing issues, ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate, auditable records.
  • Drive continuous improvement and productivity with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Work Conditions

  • Normal office environment with occasional exposure to noise and elements of an electric generating facility, requiring significant walking and traversing stairs in an industrial environment.
  • Frequent travel (driving) to other generating facilities within the company to host meetings and project reviews.
  • Infrequent overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

The Contract Management Specialist position may be hired at Level I, II, or Senior, depending on the candidate's background, education, and experience.

Contract Management Specialist I

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • 1+ years of experience in the sourcing of services.
  • Basic knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • High attention to detail, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Contract Management Specialist II

  • 3+ years of sourcing experience, with utility-related products or services.
  • Working knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Senior Contract Management Specialist

  • 5+ years of sourcing experience, with utility-related products or services.
  • Working knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, legal, or engineering.
  • Experience in electric generation and/or supply chain, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Ariba, or Maximo.
