About the role

Under the general supervision of a designated Supervisor, this position performs routine meter reading and related customer field service. The role involves operational tasks including safe operation of a City vehicle, support functions of routine field service, rereading meters, adjusting antennae, replacing meter boxes/lids, and assisting field service staff. Employees will have in-person customer contact and prioritize tasks independently with periodic supervision or review.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated and manual water meter reading.
• Conduct routine maintenance of water meters and related hardware.
• Interact and communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Replace meter boxes/lids as needed.
• Perform rereads of meters as required.
• Prepare meters for replacement.
• Replace meter heads as needed.
• Attend training as assigned.
• Assist with routine Field Service functions.
• Safely operate a City-issued vehicle to perform job duties.
• Perform other field service duties as directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and obtain a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of hire.
• General knowledge of principles of meter reading and mathematics.
• Skilled in written and oral communications.
• Able to read and interpret maps.
• Able to deal with the public in a professional manner.

Schedule

This position generally works Monday-Friday, except designated holidays.
