Contract ADA-Justice of the Peace Court

Job Duties

• Assigned to cover one or more of the Justice of the Peace Courts
• Handle arraignment, pretrial dockets and trial
• Prepare complaints, charging instruments, review and respond to emails from defendants and defense attorneys
• Other duties in the Justice of the Peace Courts as assigned by the Chief Prosecutor of the Justice of the Peace Court Section.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must have a J.D. from an accredited law school and Texas Bar certification
• Must be a Texas licensed attorney
• Must be able to work independently and possess sound problem-solving and decision-making skills

Hours

Monday through Friday, 20 to 40 hours weekly, typically between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Pay

An hourly rate of $35.00 to $50.00 per hour, depending on experience. Mileage will be reimbursed and distance of commute will be considered, when possible, in making court assignments.
