About the role

This Senior Accountant role focuses on complex balance sheet and account reconciliations for hotel and property ledgers, with a strong emphasis on cleaning up historical data to support an accurate and timely close. The position requires deep expertise in reconciliations, debits and credits, and aged balance analysis, as well as effective communication with property-level teams. The successful candidate will help ensure the integrity of financial records and prepare the organization for reporting to a third party.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile accounts tied to legacy ledgers for hotels and properties, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Perform detailed bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Apply a solid understanding of debits and credits to analyze, correct, and document accounting entries.
  • Conduct pre-paid reconciliations, confirming proper allocation and amortization of pre-paid expenses.
  • Diagnose and resolve aged items on balance sheet reconciliations, including investigating historical transactions and clearing outstanding balances.
  • Analyze aging reports and related data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Use Excel and reconciliation tools to perform data analysis and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with hotel and property teams to obtain supporting documentation, clarify transactions, and resolve open items.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with hotel personnel and other stakeholders regarding reconciliation findings and required actions.
  • Prepare reconciled and cleaned-up balance sheet accounts for review and eventual reporting to a third party.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes by ensuring reconciliations are completed within established deadlines.
  • Maintain organized documentation and audit-ready workpapers for all reconciliations and adjustments.
  • Work closely with the facility accounting group to align reconciliation practices and support standardization of processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on account and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of debits and credits and their application in complex reconciliations.
  • Proven experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliations and aged data diagnosis.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, including working with large data sets and reconciliation schedules.
  • Experience with reconciliation tools such as BlackLine or similar software.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP or comparable enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret aging reports and financial data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with hotel and property teams.

Qualifications

  • BlackLine experience is preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus.
  • Experience working in a corporate accounting environment, particularly in facilities or property-related accounting, is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple reconciliations and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving aged items and legacy issues.
  • Comfort working with various accounting and reconciliation software tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Work Environment

This role is based at a corporate headquarters within a facility accounting group. The environment is professional and deadline-driven, with a specific focus on completing balance sheet clean-up in time for an upcoming close and subsequent reporting to a third party. The position involves regular use of Excel, reconciliation software such as BlackLine, and SAP ERP. You will collaborate closely with corporate colleagues and hotel or property teams, working primarily in an office setting with standard business hours, while meeting key close and project deadlines.

Duration

This contract position is expected to be needed for about 4-6 months.
