About the role
The Continuous Improvement Engineer contributes to various aspects of business processes, new product development, supplier improvement, and customer/product issues. Reporting to the OpEx Manager, this role involves applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
Responsibilities
- Value Stream Mapping processes, time studies, leading Kaizen events, creating Standard Work, audits/Gemba Walks, develop: PFD, FMEA, Control Plan, and Job Element Sheets
- Conduct root cause analysis using 5-Why, Cause and Effect Diagram, A3 tools, New Product Introduction (NPI) validation, creating test validation plans, Gauge Studies, and perform statistical analysis
- Identify and eliminate WASTE through lean manufacturing principles; leading continuous improvement initiatives that drive measurable operational efficiencies across the facility
- Create and maintain preventive maintenance checklists and schedules to ensure equipment reliability and uptime; document and evolve equipment troubleshooting guides to support frontline problem resolution
- Develop training documents and maintain the training matrix to ensure workforce competency, standardization and compliance across all applicable roles
- Assist with AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) reports, supporting capital project justification and process improvement investments
- Identify and address customer complaints; respond to and follow up on customer complaints
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, mechanical, manufacturing, chemical engineering, industrial engineering)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience and knowledge in Toyota Production Systems, mechanical and/or manufacturing processes, an understanding of drawings, specifications and standards, familiarity with machined parts and their manufacturing processes, and a background in continuous improvement
- ISO-9000 and/or TS-16949 Quality System experience beneficial
- Demonstrates a working understanding of general business principles
- CQE, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience preferred; Quality Engineer certification through ASQ preferred
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of lean principles, quality systems, statistical tools and procedures
- Knowledge of key business drivers to accomplish own work
- Ability to solve straightforward problems creatively
- Experience with voice of the customer information to drive decision making
Skills
- Understanding of general business principles
- Problem-solving tools (5-Why, Logic Tree, Cause and Effect Diagram, A3, etc.)
- Quality System experience (ISO-9000 and/or TS-16949)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience
- Quality Engineer certification through ASQ
