About the role
A Content Developer is responsible for creating clear, concise, and engaging content that explains complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to transform technical information into user-friendly videos, documentation, and online content. This position will be primarily responsible for creating tutorial, promotional, and demonstration videos for software tools and applications.
Responsibilities
- Draft, script, and record tutorial, promotional, and demo videos on software tools.
- Develop technical documentation, user manuals, product guides, and online help content.
- Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, and product managers to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand content.
- Review and improve existing technical documentation for clarity, consistency, and user-friendliness.
- Apply user-centered design principles to create content that meets the needs of the target audience.
- Develop content for various formats, including printed documents and online help systems.
- Work with graphic designers to include visuals and diagrams to enhance content comprehension.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of technical documentation through review and proofreading.
- Keep technical documents up to date as products and technologies evolve.
- Utilize documentation and content management tools to organize and track changes.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of experience in content development or a related role.
- Experience using Camtasia to create software-centered videos is required.
- 1 year of experience in Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud.
- 2 years of experience in email marketing.
- Experience creating email templates, segments, and landing pages with embedded forms in a marketing automation platform.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as technical writing, media production, or a technical discipline.
Skills
- Proficiency in using content tools and software, including Camtasia, SnagIt, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity and user-friendliness.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content.
- Adaptability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong project management skills (preferred).
- Working understanding of compliance and delivery guidelines, including CAN-SPAM and email authentication protocols (preferred).
- A/B testing experience (preferred).
- Experience with Eloqua analytics report creation (preferred).
- Prior experience in the utilities industry (preferred).
- Prior experience in technology customer support or service (preferred).
