About the role
The Content Delivery Network (CDN) Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and operational reliability of enterprise CDN platforms supporting large-scale, customer-facing digital applications. This role drives the delivery of secure, scalable, and highly available content by managing CDN configurations, caching strategies, traffic routing, and edge security controls across distributed environments. As a key member of the newly established CDN Center of Excellence (CoE), this individual will lead the transformation from a traditional vendor-managed CDN model to a modern, automated Multi-CDN ecosystem. The engineer will partner closely with application, network, and security teams to deliver self-service capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and establish enterprise standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical owner and subject matter expert for enterprise CDN technologies, partnering with application, network, and security teams to design and implement scalable solutions.
- Lead the technical transformation of the global content delivery strategy, driving the evolution from a legacy vendor-managed model to a modern Multi-CDN architecture.
- Build and enhance self-service capabilities within the organization's internal developer portal to accelerate onboarding and provisioning processes.
- Execute complex global CDN migrations while establishing and enforcing enterprise standards, governance, and best practices.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for critical production incidents, participate in on-call support rotations, and develop automated remediation solutions to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain high levels of platform reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, incident prevention, and performance optimization.
- Define, implement, and track CDN-specific service-level objectives (SLOs) and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Evaluate emerging CDN technologies, tools, and performance optimization techniques to improve platform capabilities.
- Mentor and train systems and automation engineers by developing documentation, operational playbooks, and training materials.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Qualifications
Required Technical Qualifications
Multi-CDN Strategy & Administration- 5+ years of experience managing enterprise CDN platforms including Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, Google Cloud CDN, Google Media CDN, or similar technologies.
- Experience configuring, deploying, and managing CDN properties, landing zones, traffic routing, and edge delivery services across multiple CDN providers.
- Strong understanding of DNS, GTM, CNAME chaining, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, TLS/SSL, caching policies, and edge computing concepts.
- Strong experience developing production-grade Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks.
- Experience automating CDN provisioning, origin configurations, WAF policies, bot management controls, and operational workflows.
- Experience building API-driven self-service capabilities within developer platforms such as Backstage.
- Hands-on experience developing: React-based front-end components, Python (FastAPI/Flask) or Java-based backend services.
- Ability to build solutions enabling application teams to self-provision CDN services and perform cache management activities.
- Experience building and maintaining GitOps-based deployment pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions and Tekton Pipelines (Pipeline-as-Code).
- Experience publishing and securing APIs through Apigee.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications and API security validation tools such as 42Crunch.
- Experience building telemetry pipelines and operational dashboards.
- Strong knowledge of: Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana.
- Ability to provide visibility into application performance, traffic patterns, security events, and CDN offload efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including: Cloud Run, Transcoder API, GKE/OpenShift environments.
- Experience supporting CDN integrations for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM/AEMaaCS).
- Experience operating within large-scale enterprise digital platforms and global content delivery environments.
- Exposure to modern platform engineering, developer experience (DevEx), and cloud-native architectures.
- Advanced technical certifications in Cloud, Networking, Platform Engineering, or Security disciplines.
