Art & Creative$90k–$150k/yrFull-time

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do — and that’s more than a cliché. We see our people as individuals with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that matter. Our focus is on the health, safety, work-life balance, and diversity and inclusion of our teammates. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage professional growth. We want to help you evolve, so your opportunities can too.

Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

About the role

Ally is seeking a Content Architect to optimize a content ecosystem built for AI-first discovery. Acting as a connective engine between editorial, UX, data, PR, and SEO/GEO teams, the Content Architect sits above channels and formats. The ideal candidate will blend systems thinking, editorial strategy, consumer journeys, and data fluency with a hands-on, action-oriented mindset. They don’t just identify opportunities — they activate them, bringing structure, clarity, and progress to ensure Ally’s content is discoverable, understandable, and surfaced effectively by both humans and machines.

This role is built for a builder and connector: a person who moves quickly, aligns teams, removes friction, and drives momentum across a content ecosystem designed for AI-first discovery. The focus is less on creating content and more on making content work by designing systems, structures, and standards that turn content into a high-performing business asset. By aligning cross-functional teams around shared content structures and standards, the Content Architect ensures Ally’s content functions as a cohesive system, improving performance in traditional search, generative engines, and AI-powered discovery while reducing duplication and operational friction.

This role will own an end-to-end strategy to capture demand earlier in the journey and guide consumers seamlessly from AI-driven entry points to Ally-owned experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-functional alignment and execution — turning insights into action and standard processes.
  • Identify strategic content opportunities using owned and third-party data, with a focus on AI-first discovery, search demand, and emerging trends.
  • Own and evolve Ally’s content architecture across channels and partners, ensuring content is structured, connected, reusable, and easily discoverable.
  • Define and govern content models, taxonomies, metadata, and structured data standards that enable modular, machine-readable, high-performing content.
  • Partner with UX, editorial, and product teams to align content structure to priority consumer journeys (acquisition, servicing, support) and reduce friction from entry to conversion.
  • Lead content audits and ecosystem analyses to identify structural gaps, duplication, and opportunities for consolidation, reuse, and personalization.
  • Establish success metrics and measurement frameworks for content performance (discoverability, engagement, reuse, workflow efficiency, personalization outcomes, SEO/GEO impact) and translate insights into a prioritized roadmap.
  • Partner with engineering teams to operationalize architecture-driven optimization (internal linking strategy, schema/structured data, and other technical considerations).
  • Collaborate with the analytics team to build and maintain dashboards and reports that monitor content ecosystem health and outcomes over time.
  • Ensure content and experiences meet legal, compliance, and accessibility requirements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent.

Skills

  • Proven ability leading cross-functionally and managing stakeholders across UX, analytics, editorial, marketing, legal/compliance, and technology — aligning teams.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; able to translate complex concepts into clear decisions, reports, and presentations.
  • Track record of building and governing content models, including taxonomies, metadata standards, and structured data/schema to enable modular, reusable, machine-readable content.
  • Strong knowledge of how content is discovered across traditional and AI-powered discovery (SEO fundamentals plus GEO concepts such as entity optimization, structured data, retrieval signals).
  • Practical knowledge of structured content and machine-readable signals, including schema/structured data, entity optimization, and API-based integrations.
  • Hands-on familiarity with SEO and AI search performance tools (e.g., seoClarity, Scrunch); experience with taxonomy management, workflow platforms, and content performance dashboards.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and comfort operating in a fast-changing environment; able to adapt quickly and execute with ambiguity.

Benefits

  • Time Away: Program starts at 20 paid time off days in addition to 11 paid holidays and 8 hours of volunteer time off yearly (prorated based on start date and varies by full/part-time status and management level).
  • Planning for the Future: Industry-leading 401K retirement savings plan with matching and company contributions, student loan pay downs, 529 educational savings assistance, tuition reimbursement, employee stock purchase plan, and access to a financial learning center and financial coach.
  • Supporting your Health & Well-being: Flexible health and insurance options including medical, dental, and vision; employee, spouse, and child life insurance; short- and long-term disability; pre-tax Health Savings Account with employer contributions; Healthcare FSA; critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance; and a total well-being program.
  • Building a Family: Adoption, surrogacy, and fertility assistance; paid parental and caregiver leave; Dependent Day Care FSA; back-up child and adult/elder care days; and childcare discounts.
  • Work-Life Integration: Mentally Fit Employee Assistance Program, subsidized and discounted Weight Watchers® program, and other employee discount programs.
  • Other Compensations: Depending on the role, may include travel allowances, relocation assistance, a signing bonus, and/or equity.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $90,000 – $150,000 USD. An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, scope, responsibilities, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
