Key Responsibilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work within a team
- Safely operate and control heavy-duty trucks (including tractor/trailer combinations over 24 tons)
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions with precision
- Knowledge of coupling/uncoupling trailers, including landing gear, air lines, electrical connections, and fifth-wheel locks
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Show basic mechanical aptitude to perform minor vehicle maintenance (fueling, checking oil/fluids, minor repairs)
- Follow safety procedures and protocols consistently
- Show a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and work ethic
- Promptly report issues, incidents, or safety concerns
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 2 years of truck driving experience
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and TWIC Card (required for port drayage operations)
- Clean driving and background record, including no DUI or felony convictions within the past three years
- Experience operating Kenworth T800 trucks and familiarity with Samsara ELD or similar electronic logging devices preferred
Work Conditions
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle
- Frequent climbing in and out of trucks and trailers
- Exposure to outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and varying weather
- May require lifting, pulling, or handling equipment and materials
- Rotating schedules or extended hours may be required depending on delivery demands
