About the Role
This role reports to the Director of Consumer Lending Fulfillment and will supervise the underwriting for consumer lending real-estate loans. The supervisor will help ensure company goals, initiatives, and expectations are met for consumer origination functions, including adherence to overall company policy, procedures, productivity requirements, expected customer service levels, productivity metrics, industry guidelines, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervises Consumer underwriting, ensures superior customer service to both internal and external customers, maintains exceptional loan quality and attention to detail on every file, and meets or exceeds service level expectations daily.
- Focuses on individual production with goals set by the Mortgage and Consumer Fulfillment Manager.
- Effectively communicates company policy and procedure (P&P) updates, industry trends, and regulatory changes to team members in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensures Consumer-related issues (processes, employee, etc.) are communicated to the Fulfillment Manager promptly.
- Ensures loans are underwritten within standards and exceed expectations in loan quality.
- Monitors loan origination system and reports to provide direction for pipeline management, ensuring workload balance and production efficiency.
- Assists with team meetings by identifying and proposing timely meeting/training topics and presenting when needed.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure exceptional customer service and compliance with all Federal, State, Investor/Agency, and company requirements.
- Assists in creating documents, processes, and policies related to Consumer Underwriting and Processing, including identifying process improvement opportunities and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Mentors team members and assists with training, performance management, and resolving trending department issues, including administering performance reviews, corrective action, and coaching.
- Assists team members in finding solutions to challenging loan scenarios or conditions, including creative and acceptable restructuring solutions.
- Addresses, resolves, and swiftly responds to consumer concerns related to loan origination as needed.
- Performs duties listed for Consumer Underwriter III and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of the mortgage process and mortgage documents.
- Ability to adapt well to change.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to take direction and comprehend training.
- Ability to work closely within a team structure.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and a strong appetite for learning technology tools and efficiencies.
- Working knowledge of FNMA DO/DU, GUS, and FHLMC LP.
- Overall Processing/Underwriting knowledge of how to read income tax returns, credit reports, etc.
- Ability to manage and handle a large volume of originations while performing effective pipeline management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides employees with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback.
- Develops employees to their fullest potential and ensures adequate bench strength and succession planning.
- Recognizes and rewards employees for accomplishments.
- Assists in developing an appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning.
Pay
$74,000 - $100,000 annually.
