Consumer Scientist
About the role
Under the direct supervision of a manager, you plan and organize cross-functional projects and develop consumer-centric objectives and strategies in response to business needs. You also interact independently with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on single and multi-stage projects, meeting standards and time frames by designing research and producing quality, actionable data.
- Lead development of learning plans and all aspects of qualitative and quantitative consumer research and sensory methods and ensure that it is translated into a cohesive story.
- Interpret results, report and present findings, and make recommendations that contribute to decision making.
- Lead descriptive panels, training, data analysis, reporting and assess panelist's performance.
- May take on supervisory responsibility when completing assignments.
- Apply multivariate statistical methods to gain deeper understanding and insights from the research.
- Partner with key stakeholders (R&D and Commercial/Insights) and cross-functional teams to ensure that the work is aligned with strategic priorities and ensure that procedures are followed and the highest standards of work and environment, health and safety are maintained.

- Absolutely required qualifications in food science, engineering, psychology, sociology, food technology, food chemistry or similar.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative consumer testing methods.
- Experience in sensory testing methods (Round Table, QDA, Discrimination, etc.).
- Experience in using statistics to analyze data and interpret results.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to effectively partner with stakeholders (R&D and Commercial/Insights) ensuring that the work is in line with the strategic and innovation priorities of the business.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and business partners.
- Experience in project planning and management.
- Problem-solving, creating solutions and working independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
Qualifications
- A highly motivated BS or MS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Psychology, Sociology, Food Technology, Food Chemistry or similar.
- 1–3 years of experience, preferably in the food industry and/or in consumer and sensory studies.
