About the role
Responsible for consumer, market, and competitive research efforts that will guide marketing initiatives and corporate strategies. The primary focus of this position will be to gain an expert level of competence with two mobile data tools. The successful candidate will lead the mining of data insights from these tools to support the CUSA retail banners across various departments including Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Store Design and Construction, and Strategy.
Responsibilities
- Influence and gain approval of strategy development and structure around current consumer insights data and usage within the company, with the goal of deepening the understanding of the company’s target customers.
- Provide expert-level and statistically-sound qualitative research and methodology design that directly results in high-quality, valid research studies, surveys, and analytics.
- Research, compare, and acquire new sources of consumer information/insights and complementary data sets such as demographics, market share, and economic indices.
- Manage outside agencies, contracts, and partnerships, directly affecting marketing expenditures. Oversee and independently act upon the quality of output from each partnership.
- Independently investigate and resolve data integrity, reporting, and analytics challenges by partnering with vendors and/or directly accessing databases and systems of record.
- Develop, execute, and summarize findings for all customer surveys and research points.
- Conduct ongoing and ad-hoc consumer research including market studies, consumer focus groups, customer intercepts, and mystery shops.
- Build a systemic depository of intelligence-gathering efforts. Maintain a knowledge base of relevant studies and published research that impacts business and/or signals potential changes in the company’s customer base.
- Continuously improve output value by increasing the effectiveness of research and analytics and the efficiencies related to their production.
- Support the GVP in building and maintaining relationships as an insights partner across the organization.
- Effectively and simply present results and translate statistical and business terminology to senior members of management.
- Interact productively with key organizational decision-makers.
- Lead cross-functional teams as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- 3-5 years of experience in an analytical role.
- Retail background is highly desirable; grocery experience a plus.
- Familiarity with consumer and market research tools and techniques.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,304.00 to $90,000.00. Actual starting pay will be determined by experience and relevant skills.
