About the role

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve. We have an immediate opening for a Consumer Finance Litigation Senior Counsel with at least eight years of relevant experience preferred. We will consider candidates for any of our offices, including our virtual office, The Link, however, candidates residing and licensed in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, New York, or Ohio are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Defend financial services companies in both state and federal courts
  • Apply working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection statutes
  • Represent mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims
  • Work primarily with attorneys in our Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit
  • Effectively handle multiple projects and articulate legal strategies and courses of action

Requirements

  • At least eight years of relevant experience preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying, or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible
  • Candidates applying for a role in our virtual office, The Link, must be licensed in the state in which they reside

Pay

Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C. is $185,000 - $230,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
