Consumer Finance Litigation Associate

About the role

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve. We have an immediate opening for a Consumer Finance Litigation Associate with three to five years of relevant experience preferred. We will consider candidates for any of our offices, including our virtual office, The Link; however, candidates residing and licensed in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, New York, or Ohio are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend financial services companies in both state and federal courts
• Work primarily with attorneys in our Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit
• Articulate legal strategies and courses of action
• Effectively handle multiple projects

Requirements

• Three to five years of relevant experience preferred
• Working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection statutes
• Experience representing mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims (ideal)
• Excellent academic credentials
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated record of working well under pressure
• Exceptional judgment
• Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible
• Candidates applying for a role in our virtual office, The Link, must be licensed in the state in which they reside

Pay

• California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, and Washington, D.C.: $200,000 – $230,000
• Minnesota and Vermont: $210,000 – $225,000
• Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data
• Associates are eligible for an Associate Performance Bonus and Client Development Bonus
