Consulting Utility Forester | Grand Junction, CO

ACRT is seeking energetic, experienced professionals who enjoy working outdoors for our Consulting Utility Forester position. This role is ideal for entry-level and seasoned professionals with an educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines, and with experience in these fields.

About the role

Our Foresters perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines. Responsibilities include submitting inspection results to clients with recommendations, planning and coordinating tree clearance crew activities, negotiating line-clearance crew access, and serving as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers. This position will specifically contract for Xcel Energy as a new construction vegetation planner.

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers

Requirements

• 2-year or 4-year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science, or a closely related field OR high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or a related field (e.g., general Right-of-Way management, Integrated Vegetation Management, nursery work, or timber cutting)
• High school diploma requirement can be waived with 5 years of UVM experience
• ISA Arborist, ISA Utility Specialist, and/or TRAQ certification strongly preferred
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, organized, and production-oriented
• Comfortable working independently and managing a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
• Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers, line clearance vendors, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-tasking and strong time management skills
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed)
• Valid driver’s license required

Pay

For applicants residing in Colorado, the salary range for this role is $25.50 to $29.50 per hour. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the ACRT salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance.
