Consulting Systems Engineer (Civilian)

As a Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE), you’ll collaborate with engineering teams to develop innovative, tailored solutions for clients, leveraging a diverse range of technologies. This role is integral to Iron Bow’s strategic approach, focusing on IT modernization, Workforce Experience, Digital Transformation, and Cybersecurity. CSEs act as trusted advisors, ensuring solutions align with customers’ unique needs and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Work with Account Teams to build consultative relationships and provide IT solutions and professional services (engagement, program, and managed services).
- Focus on innovative technical presales solutions, including cloud, collaboration, security, data center, networking, mobility, end-user devices, managed services, and digital/IoT transformation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, demonstrating leadership in key products, solutions, and partnerships.
- Develop proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs), assisting account teams in packaging, pricing, and presenting solutions to customers.
- Lead proposal solutioning as the technical solution owner.
- Validate and create Bills of Materials from leading OEMs using appropriate configuration tools.
- Provide technical assistance to customers and Account Teams.
- Obtain customer integration service needs, challenges, and product requirements to develop business cases driving solutions.
- Understand and communicate IT strategy and vision based on Iron Bow’s capabilities to meet customer technical requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and typically 10 years of experience in engineering presales or a related role.
- Broad understanding of technology and ability to consult on cloud, collaboration, security, data center, networking, mobility, end-user devices, managed services, and digital/IoT transformation.
- Experience leading the development of solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Experience with leading OEMs and their configuration/operation toolsets.
- Knowledge of relevant solution sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, and applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, add value as a team member, and assume a technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills.
- Relevant experience with key competitor offerings in technology areas to drive business outcomes.
- Comfortable working in a high-performing team environment and collaborating with internal technical experts.
- US citizenship is required.
Government clearance, OEM certifications (e.g., Dell datacenter), and experience with the Department of Justice are a plus.
Schedule
This is a remote position, preferably for candidates based in the National Capital Region or Mid-Atlantic region, with up to 20% travel required.
