Consulting Director - Actuarial Pricing (Large Account Casualty)

About the role

This is a senior-level individual contributor position on the Large Casualty Pricing team, responsible for performing analyses on loss-rated and loss-sensitive casualty business across Commercial lines, including workers compensation, general liability, and commercial auto. The role involves consulting and leading strategy related to actuarial trends and influencing pricing studies for large casualty business. The position participates in and leads corporate-wide initiatives based on trends and works a flexible, hybrid schedule at one of CNA’s office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides actuarial guidance and business insights related to Large Casualty business to business partners and functional subject matter experts.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers, business partners, and leaders across multiple functions to influence pricing strategy through actionable insights and analytics.
  • Works with senior management in the development and implementation of pricing strategies for Large Casualty.
  • Drives innovation in products through thought leadership.
  • Monitors profitability and trends for Large Casualty, sharing results with recommendations to business partners and actuarial leaders.
  • Participates with senior leadership in the development and implementation of actuarial policies, business strategies, and goals, evaluating performance against goals.
  • Stays up to date on actuarial expertise and industry trends to guide decisions related to the line of business.
  • Produces highly technical actuarial analyses and reports, delivering findings to senior management.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten years of related work experience.
  • Fellowship accreditation (FCAS) typically attained.

Pay

The average base pay range for this role is $155,000 to $220,500 in Illinois, New York, and California. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the national base pay range is $97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
